The Honduras Project began in 2008 when Mark and Lori Connell moved to Honduras full time to be “boots on the ground” for Torch Missions and Lori’s work, Mi Esperanza. Over the past 11 years Mark continues developing ministry during the day to day times when there are not Torch teams in the country. Mark dedicates [...]
During the month of January and February, IRC helped rebuild houses in a community called 21 de Octubre that experienced a large fire early in the month. This community is on the bank of a river, very small, compact, congested, and extremely poor. Ten families lost their homes, and most tragically one family lost their 6-year-old daughter, [...]

This community contains about 40 families of the Lencas, an indigenous Honduran tribe. Like many poor communities in Honduras, the residents of Tierras de Padre have no electricity or [...]
In June of 2014, the TORCH Team was invited to the Casa de Presidential by the first lady. At this time, she presented a certificate to the team to honor their endeavors in helping the country of Honduras.
In 2013, IRC installed volcano stoves with every house they built. These stoves run on very little wood for a long time, and the outside never becomes hot, so children and adults are safe from being burned. They are also smokeless, so they can be run in the house.
