Mi Esperanza means “My Hope” and began in 2002 with a vision to provide assistance for women in the villages of Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This is done through providing business loans and skill training. Many of the women are single mothers supporting their families without assistance in extreme poverty. Through Mi Espernaza women find a new sense of hope and self empowerment and through this hope and empowerment she is able give her family stability for generations to come. Their future is changed forever.

Since it’s conception the Mi Esperanza Project has continued to grow. We have given loans to over 50 women to begin a variety of small businesses. Tortilla making, small home and traveling stores, sewing businesses, peanut roasting are some of the businesses our participants have started. These businesses takes women from no income to providing adaquete food, clothing and shelter for their families. In some cases, like with Maria the “tortilla lady”, now has an employee and has an income that is equal to some doctors in Honduras.
The Mi Esperanza Training Facility, centrally located in Tegucigalpa, is the heart beat of our training program. It is here students can receive training in sewing, computer, and cosmotology. With hands on classrooms and an on-site salon our instructors prepare our students to enter the work force, for many, for the the first time. All of our students and loan recipients also receive inner personal skills training to prepare them for owning a business or seeking employment. The facility will also house our future goals of a literacy program and pregnancy prevention education.
We would love to hear from you! Feel free to contact us for more information on our project. The Mi Esperanza program has ongoing monthly expenses and needs to run our ever growing programs for the women of Honduras. A donation of any amount can be made to the address listed here and will be greatly appreciated.

With a donation of $100 or more and you will receive an exclusive Mi Esperanza Doll handmade for you by our Junco weavers. (Due to the handmade nature of the dolls and delivery from Honduras, dolls will be delivered to you as quickly as possible.)

The women of Mi Esperanza thank you for your support.
