IRC Food Projects
One of the most basic needs of all life is the need for food. InterAmerican Restoration Corporation helps meet that basic need by providing food ministries and hunger relief programs in both rural and urban areas of Honduras. IRC purchases fresh fruit and vegetables in Tegucigalpa’s open air market and then delivers them in large buckets to families in some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods. IRC also provides lunch on a weekly basis to the hundreds of people living in the city’s 200-acre landfill. The weekly food ministry at the dump is a much needed meal in an otherwise overwhelming environment, as desperate people intermingle with vultures, wild dogs and cattle foraging for whatever they can find in the heaps of trash.
